Carrick's Guitars for Kids Program
The Ausable Valley Nor-east’r Association of Folk (AVNAF) is committed to encouraging young people to learn and participate in music and art. With this in mind, way back in 2003, Craig Carrick started bringing guitars to the festival each year. These guitars are given to young people that have an interest in music in hopes that they will start playing music of their own.

The applicant needs to be under the age of 18, have a sincere interest in beginning to play music, and YOU MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AT THE NOR-EAST’R MUSIC AND ART FESTIVAL when those selected are announced Saturday evening. Applications will be available at the retail tent.

PARENTS: AVNAF does not require personal information. There is no cost or obligation at all, this is completely free and is considered a gift from AVNAF. We select kids that seem to have the most to gain by this offer based on this application and interviewing the children. Their sincerity in learning about music is key to the selection process. Filling out an application does not entitle children to receive this gift and we offer guitars solely for the purpose to help young folks become interested in playing music easy.

If you would like to help support the Guitars for Kids program, we accept cash, checks, or online donations HERE . Please mail to: AVNAF, PO Box 516, Mio, MI 48647.

***AVNAF would like to thank the entire Carrick family for their dedication to our festival and the creation of Carrick's Guitars for Kids. Because of them, many recipients have gone on to become musical artists. Thank you all for bringing this opportunity to our area that is in desperate need of this creative outlet.***
